Fleming Peters Interior Design marries freedom with finesse to create elegant interiors that welcome all who enter.
Drawn to beauty at an early age, Clare Fleming Peters, artistic director and founder, began her career at Parsons School of Design while working under the legendary interior designer, Bunny Williams. Years later, Clare joined the firm of the talented Timothy Whealon and together they created country and Hamptons houses, as well as city lofts and offices, including a Carnegie Hill townhome and a villa in Monaco. Their work was prominently featured in Architectural Digest, Elle Décor and Veranda magazines.
Clare’s artistic choices reflect her overall design philosophy – every piece is free to be from any time period or place, all drawn together by a cohesive strategy that uses color and texture as constants. Her work is infused with an unerring eye, a passion for fine textiles and upholstery, and an overarching commitment to her client’s happiness.
An unabashed Anglophile, Francophile and life-long equestrienne, Clare studied at the Sorbonne in Paris. In her prior career, she raised funds for the arts including The Huntington Library and Art Collections in San Marino, California and the Santa Barbara Botanic Garden.
Clare lives on the north shore of Long Island with her husband, Paul, beloved mare, Smooth as Brandy, and mischievous goldendoodle, Chocolate Chip (who inserts himself in all the photos).
